Tag >> IT Budgets
It seems like whenever it comes to budgets, IT gets the short end of the stick. Marketing departments are important, and I don't begrudge them the nice offsite trainings and meetings. Business should be rewarded for keeping the customers and clients happy. However, neither of these departments would be able to do what they do, as well as they currently do it, without IT.

McKinsey on "the new normal" for CIOs
McKinsey & Co. held its annual online IT survey from October 13 to October 26, 2009, with responses from 444 executives representing all industries, regions, and company sizes.
Add a new survey from UBS to the growing evidence that corporate technology budgets may be showing signs of life--or at least aren’t hurting quite as bad.
Corporate CIOs expect their IT budgets to shrink by 2.1 percent over the next year, according to a quarterly survey put out by UBS today. Sixty U.S. and 40 European CIOs participated in the study, which found that the U.S. execs were more optimistic--predicting a 1.3 percent decrease--than their counterparts on the Continent (3.4 percent decrease).
