This is an excellent interview with Gina Poole she shares IBM's perspective on effectively leveraging social software.
It is clear from this interview that IBM is a leader in using social software both internally and externally to collaborate and find information and share resources.

Gina made several points that are worth repeating and they strongly coincide with policies that CIOZone.com employs as a social networking platform for the senior IT professional.
1) In Governance - do not allow anonymity - identify yourself - sign your name and demonstrate that what you are writing or saying is your subjective opinion - mostly based
on facts and your experiences but not necessarily the official company policy of the organization you work for. At

2) Social Media Marketing is not about spending money with an ad agency to reach your target audience. By aligning your marketing messages with the threads in a public forum and taking part in the conversations you will ultimately realize an ROI that may be tough to directly measure initially but
over the long haul this important channel will lead to new business opportunities and efficiencies.
