An Engineering Team

When eBay took off during the late 1990s, the media went crazy reporting on the strange or disturbing items that turned up on the auction site -- kidneys, babies, oddly shaped snack foods, etc. But this is one of my favorite auctions from eBay's early days: In April 1999, an ISP management and engineering team of 16 offered itself up for a minimum bid of $3.14 million. The team's sense of togetherness is admirable, but the price may have been a tad high, unless they came with their own technology. Two days after the auction appeared, the sellers took it down. Maybe they found something better on HotJobs.
