Blippy, a social media site that launched in December 2009, has been called the Twitter of personal finance. The site lets members share information about what they purchase so friends can comment and compare. "Blippy is a fun and easy way to see and discuss what everyone is buying," reads the company's Web site. But the fun turned serious recently when it was discovered that Blippy had inadvertently published transaction data on the Web.
