WellPoint Starts Search For New CIO
Indianapolis-based health insurer WellPoint says it will immediately begin a search for a new CIO following the announcement that Mark Boxer, its current president and the executive responsible for technology, will retire effective July 1.
Boxer is retiring to accept a position teaching graduate-level business classes and to conduct public policy research in health care.
The company said it will begin an internal and external search to permanently fill the CIO position. In the interim, Lori Beer will serve as acting CIO. Beer is the company's senior vice president of enterprise solutions.

DeVry Names Eric Dirst CIO
DeVry, the holding company that operates a number of universities and education providers, has named Eric Dirst as its new CIO.
Dirst joins DeVry of Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., from SIRVA, a relocation and moving company, where he was the CIO. Prior to SIRVA, Dirst held senior IT positions with KPMG Peat Marwick and Covansys, which was acquired by Computer Sciences Corp.
Hendricks to Lead EDS Enterprise Charge
EDS announced that it has appointed Randy Hendricks as senior vice president of applications services and systems integration, effective June 16.
In that role Hendricks will lead all aspects of the consulting firm's $7 billion applications business, including its current practices centered on SAP, Oracle and other enterprise-class applications. Hendricks will report directly to Charlie Feld, the organization's senior executive vice president.
Hendricks joins Plano, Texas-based EDS from Unisys where he was president of the company's global outsourcing and infrastructure services unit.
