There were some fantastic deals to be had on the Internet Wednesday, but only for those with a sense of humor.

The Internet was alive with April Fool's Day jokes with everything from $99 vacation deals to Mars, to a stay on the world's first flying hotel—the Hotelicopter.

Even the world's biggest software company got in on the fun. On its Xbox site, Microsoft announced a new version in the Guitar Hero franchise: Alpine Legend. Instead of playing the guitar, players were challenged to test their yodeling skills against such alpine legends as Franz "The Manz" Lang and Johann Hornboster. And for a limited time, the game came with a free goat.

The promo reads: "Shake the mountain tops with 100 classic Alphorn tracks including, "Whose spit is in my horn?" and "More goat bell (It needs)". Take your band through all the alpine rights of passage: a mountainous village tour, recording sessions in a log cabin studio, overcoming throat soother addiction, and even competing in a live yodel off."

Microsoft even produced a hilarious video to go with the spoof.

Over at Expedia, the travel Web site was offering visitors $99 trips to Mars, a savings of over $3 trillion from the regular price. And those booking early could stay at the Colbert Hotel & Casino, the first orbital hotel in space. Those who have been following TV show host Stephen Colbert's efforts to have NASA name a room in the International Space Station after him, got the connection.

Google, which always has few chuckles up its sleeve for April 1st, announced the launch of CADIE: the world's first "Cognitive Autoheuristic Distributed-Intelligence Entity." In short, CADIE can do the thinking for you, and even answer your Gmail. Problem is, CADIE still has a few bugs. Check out a few of the sample Gmail's CADIE has responded to:

And finally, a British newspaper publisher Metro, reportedly suckered a number of people into believing a story about the launch of the Hotelicopter —the world's first flying hotel, complete with sound proofed rooms, and all the luxurious appointments you'd expect from a five star hotel. The video looks pretty realistic:

Was there an April Fool's Day joke that tickled your funny bone? Tell us about it.

Great fun! I saw a cool one from Opera Software on a Web brower that could be controlled using facial gestures. The best one is on how to enlarge the picture. Check it out: http://labs.opera.com/news/2009/04/01/

Good one Mike. I loved the bit about know issues and visting Adult Web sites:

Users visiting Web sites that contain adult content sometimes make unconscious facial expressions. If Opera keeps opening Speed Dial and Zooming In and Out, please be aware that this is not a bug. It may be useful to disable Face Gestures for a better experience. Also remember that wiping your cache is recommend after visiting untrusted websites.
