Salesforce.com Loses Top Executives in Shakeup; Lufthansa Airlines Names CIO
Salesforce.com, a leading provider of on-demand sales automation software, has had a shakeup in its management suite.
The company said in regulatory filings that its president and chief strategy officer, Steve Cakebread, has left the company to "pursue other professional opportunities." Cakebread has been with the San Francisco-headquartered company since 2002.
In addition to the loss of Cakebread, the New York Times reported that Gary Hanna, executive vice president of enterprise sales, and Dave Orrico, another sales executive, are no longer at the company.
Analysts are keeping a close eye on Salesforce as companies battle through the recession. It is not clear whether the company, which offers hosted software or software as a service (SaaS) over the Internet as opposed to companies that sell software installed internally, will benefit from the downturn or be negatively affected.
In the third quarter, reported in November, Salesforce posted revenue of $277 million, up 43%. It had a profit of $10.1 million, compared to a profit of $6.5 million for the same period a year earlier. The company has forecasted sales of $277 million for the fourth quarter which would represent a 43% increase over the year earlier.
