New IT Leaders At Chevron, Cummins, More Print E-mail

Chevron Makes IT Leadership Changes


Oil and gas major Chevron has made a number of changes to its senior technology ranks. The San Ramon, Calif.-based company announced that Melody Meyer will become president of Chevron Energy Technology (ETC), the group responsible for delivering applications and services to Chevron's global businesses. Meyer replaces Mark Puckett who is retiring. Louie Ehrlich was named president of Chevron Information Technology (ITC) and CIO, effective June 1, 2008. Ehrlich replaces Gary Masada who is also retiring. "Melody's experience in operations and technology application will bring great depth to her role in which she will manage the company's technology services and research and development," John McDonald, Chevron's vice president and chief technology officer, said in making the announcement. "Louie brings demonstrated leadership skills and broad information technology experience that spans the full breadth of Chevron's business." Meyer was vice president of the Gulf of Mexico strategic business unit, while Ehrlich was CIO for global downstream operations.

Carver Departs Dana for Cummins


Bruce Carver took up his new position this week as CIO of Cummins after announcing his departure from auto parts manufacturer Dana Holding earlier this month. Carver succeeds Gail Farnsley at engine maker Cummins, who left the company in February to take a position at Purdue University. Prior to joining Dana, Carver, 47, was a vice president and division CIO for PepsiCo from 2000 to 2004.


Pennsylvania Names CIO


The Keystone State has named Brenda Orth as its deputy secretary for information technology and CIO. She replaces Kristen Miller who resigned last year. Orth has served with the state of Pennsylvania since 2003, most recently as chief technology officer.

Home Depot CIO Steps Down


Bob DeRodes, Home Depot's executive vice president and chief information officer-and one of the leading CIOs in the country -has decided to leave the home-improvement products retailer at the end of the year, the company said. DeRodes, 57, will continue to oversee its IT operations until his departure. A search for a replacement has begun and DeRodes will be part of the selection process and assist in the transition to new IT leadership, the company said. For the full story, see HERE.


Philadelphia SIM Changes Guard


The Philadelphia chapter of the Society of Information Management, SIM, recently named a high level group of executives to its board. Dan Falkenstein, CIO of Reliance Standard Life Insurance is now chairman. William Morgan, executive vice president and CIO of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange is secretary, and Peter Whatnell, CIO of Sunoco, Philadelphia, is treasurer.
