MF Global, a New York City-based broker specializing in exchange-traded futures, announced it has hired Avram Kornberg, 49, as its new chief information officer.
Kornberg arrives at MF Global from Moore Capital Management, where he was responsible for global information technology management. At his new home, Kornberg will once again be responsible for global technology, including development efforts, production and infrastructure, data center and disaster recovery plans.
MF Global Chief Executive Bernard Dan, said Kornberg's hiring will help the company synchronize operations across 12 countries. "Avram has the right background to help us further integrate our technology globally, while leveraging our existing structure and talent to improve operational efficiency," Dan said in announcing the hiring.
Prior to Moore Capital, Kornberg served as the CIO at Natexis Banques Populaire, the commercial banking arm of France's fourth largest bank. He was also chief technology officer at OppenheimerFunds from 1994 to 2002.
Sendmail Names Gregory Shapiro CTO
Sendmail, an Emeryville, Calif.-based provider of email and messaging systems, has promoted Gregory Shapiro to the position of vice president and CTO. Shapiro was a founding member of the company and most recently served as the chief architect of the engineering group. He also spent four years leading product production.
"He has had tours in engineering, IT and business development and over the past two years I have been using Greg in the CTO capacity and as my personal technical advisor," Sendmail Chief Executive Donald Massaro said.
