Topic:
Closing the Deal

Over the last several weeks CIOZone has shared an audiocast with recruiting firm iSymmetry on How To Land an IT Job in a Down Economy.

Assuming that you have been successful in using the tips offered to gain and nail an interview, the next question is, how do you close the deal?

Ben Crosby, national recruiting manager for iSymmetry, says one of the simplest and most effective things you can do is say thank you. "You want to send a thank you note to everyone involved in the interview process," he says. "You want to thank them for assisting you in your job search, you want to say thank you for the opportunity to interview with their organization and you also want to let them know how interested you are in the position."

iSymmetry CEO Bruce Culbert adds that you will need to be patient following the interview as it takes time for some companies to go through the hiring approval process. However, if you haven't heard back from the company about a week from the initial interview, it's a good idea to send a follow-up note enquiring about the status of the hiring and once again emphasizing that you think it's a great opportunity for you—if, in fact, that is the case.
