Fifth Third Bank Names Robinson CIO
Cincinnati-based Fifth Third Bancorp has named Joseph Robinson as its new chief information officer. Robinson was most recently director of the bank's central operations division. He replaces Raymond Dury who left the company earlier this year.
Before joining Fifth Third Bank in 2004, Robinson was a line-of-business CIO for GE Insurance. Robinson signed on with the bank as vice president of enterprise solutions and was later promoted to vice president of central operations.
Former Schwab Executive Becomes Zecco CIO
Online brokerage Zecco Holdings has tapped a former executive with Charles Schwab as its CIO.
Michael Raneri, who served as senior vice president of integrated client experiences at Schwab, has joined the Burlingame, Calif.-based company, and is responsible for both technology and product development.
Zecco is attempting to create a niche in the online brokerage market, by combining stock trading with a social networking platform. Its ZeccoShare community allows clients to share portfolios and trades, view other users' performance and holdings and form investing groups, such as socially-responsible investing.
Zecco chief executive Jeroen Veth, said he is looking to tap the experience Raneri gained at Schwab to expand the company's Web 2.0 offerings. Raneri was most recently the chief executive of MeeVee.com, a Web site where consumers can create personalized TV guide listings. advertisement
United Rentals Names DeWitt CIO
United Rentals, a nationwide equipment rental company, hired Kenneth DeWitt as its new vice president and chief information officer.
DeWitt joins the Greenwich, Conn.-based firm from Retail Venture Services, the parent company of Filene's Basement and DSW Shoes, where he also served as CIO. DeWitt has more than 15 years of experience in senior IT roles, including positions as vice president of management information systems for Saks Fifth Avenue.

Kosinski Heads Westwood Digital Strategy
Westwood One, a company that provides news, sports, and entertainment programs to radio and television stations on an outsourcing basis, has appointed a chief digital officer to help drive its Internet strategy.
New York-based Westwood said it has hired Richard Kosinski, who previously served as vice president of political advertising for Yahoo! His role at Yahoo! was to leverage the search engine's audience to create advertising tools for political candidates and issues organizations.
Westwood One provides radio and television stations with broadcasts, such as ET Minute and NFL Today, and sells advertising space that accompanies those broadcasts. Kosinski is charged with trying to leverage that business strategy on the Internet.
