Disney Hires Susan O'Day as New CIO


The Walt Disney Co. has hired Susan O'Day, the former chief information officer at Bristol-Myers Squibb, as its new CIO. O'Day will assume the position starting June 2, and will report to Thomas Staggs, the company's chief financial officer.


In a statement, the company said O'Day will lead the planning, implementation and operations of the common Disney IT systems and infrastructure. She will also be responsible for supporting the company's unique IT needs by "leveraging and repurposing technical solutions whenever feasible."

O'Day spent more than 10 years in a variety of senior IT leadership roles at Bristol-Myers Squibb. Most recently she served as CIO and VP of global shared services, where she was credited with consolidating multiple fragmented IT organizations.

"Susan has proven she is capable of managing a global organization and finding operating efficiencies, and we're pleased that she will use those skills here," Staggs said in announcing her hiring.


Dish Network Taps Perot Veteran for CIO


Satellite television broadcaster Dish Network has tapped Perot Systems veteran Mike McClaskey to fill its CIO position.

McClaskey had been the CIO and senior leader for infrastructure solutions at Perot. McClaskey's role at Dish will be to develop an overall IT strategy for the fast-growing company, and to manage a staff of about 900 inside and outside IT personnel.


Siemens CIO Lovell-Read Departs

Gordon Lovell-Read, who has served as the CIO for German engineering and electronics giant Siemens over the past six years, has resigned. In a statement the company said Lovell-Read has decided to pursue other interests outside of Siemens.


Among his accomplishments with the company, Lovell-Read was credited with overseeing an IT modernization program, which included implementation of an SAP enterprise resource planning system.
