Excellent research...of course the article begs the question as to which of the two suitors Sun would have been better off with in terms of preserving and advancing its technology assets - IBM or Oracle? We'll see how the Oracle option plays out in the months and years to come, but some important products like Java and MySQL hang in the balance. My fingers are crossed...

I read that Oracle is getting into the netbook business due to the recent purchase of SUN. I hope they are able to produce innovative software and hardware products as a result of all the talent they have acquired with the SUN purchase.

Thanks, Frederick. You hit it. Those are some of the unanswered and unanswerable questions. What the future product and technology implications of the deal will be is the next logical aspect of this story, and a fascinating issue. I collected a horde of material on the speculations and predictions while I was doing the research...will say something about it...
