SIM Survey Looks to Take Industry's Pulse Print E-mail
Thursday, 25 June 2009

By Mel Duvall

The Society for Information Management (SIM) has launched its 2009 SIM IT Industry Trend survey, and the organization is asking CIOZone members to add their voice to the results.

The SIM survey, which annually polls IT executives on such key issues as IT spending, salaries, job scope of IT professionals, and technical/business trends, is now gathering input from SIM members as well as through partnerships with organizations like CIOZone.

"This year's survey will provide valuable insight regarding whether or not the dynamic economic environment has caused a significant shift in the priorities of senior IT executives," says Peter Whatnell, SIM President and the CIO of petroleum marketer Sunoco. "The results will also allow SIM to continue to provide relevant thought leadership and resources to support its members and the industry at large."

Participants are asked to complete a 20-question survey at this location.

All information provided will be aggregated and individual responses will be kept confidential. The combined results will be presented at the SIM annual conference, SIMPosium 09, to be held Nov. 8-10 in Seattle. More information on SIMPosium can be found at www.simnet.org.

The 2008 SIM Survey confirmed that despite a rapidly changing business environment, IT-business alignment was the No. 1 concern for senior executives, followed by building business skills in IT, and IT strategic planning.
