Many software professionals consider accessing internet a waste of time during work hours.Socialising , networking with your peers in different countries is forbidden ...but they talk about Team Work and Time Management capabilities.Condradicting, right?
You have worked hard through out as a student for this dream IT job,then you join a company and realise you are not trusted by your employer to even gain access to internet! I bet we are matured enough to handle project dead lines and meet daily timesheet allotment hours! People eat, walk and sleep networking now a days! Why think about banning this basic use during office hours?
I very rarely use Facebook or any other "social networking sites" category but see no harm in letting a person browse his personal mails once per day in office? I mean, we spend 10hours minimum at work..which is roughly around 63,000hours in minimum 25yrs of our career..don't you think you are missing out on your personal life and a hell lots of information circulating around the world?
I wish the decision makers soon realise that by blocking such common and usual sites you let the employees wander around in corridors with coffee mugs and missing out on good and clean information which can at times be used to impress clients during a casual chat.
I wouldn't know the value and fun of a match between Red Sox and Yankees!
