Sourcing in uncertain times – how do you get the best value for your organization?

In today’s tough economic times, sourcing
can be an extremely touchy issue due to the large amount of lay offs occurring
in the US.
However, at the same time, organizations are more pressed than ever before to
provide better value to their stakeholders. One way of obtaining this value is
by evaluating thoroughly the risks associated with the sourcing industry, which
are likely to be even more dynamic during these turbulent times.
Global sourcing in the cost cutting
economy is likely to increase because the majority of client organizations –
the buyers - state that financial drivers
are still one of the primary benefits of sourcing. At the same time client
organizations in the US
and elsewhere are becoming more focused on the benefits of business practices
that are sustainable with respect to environmental and human resources. An
intricate part of organizations’ sourcing strategy should be to adopt best
practices for implementing socially responsible sourcing to achieve both financial
and sustainability goals.
