All of us here are certainly into social networking, at least the professional kind. But how can anyone predict where Facebook's revenues will be in five years, even if his name is Mark Andreessen?
Didn't Rupert Murdoch have the same expectations for MySpace only a year or two ago?
Maybe Andreessen isn't going to Herb Allen's annual Sun Valley media shindig this year. Otherwise he surely would have read this reminder of how quickly things can change.
Point is, there are very few barriers to entry in this space. Just ask Rupert.
On the other hand, maybe Andreessen is just talking up the company so another old-line media company will take the plunge. And with anyone who's anyone among them about to meet and greet in Idaho, what better timing could there be for such a bold if impossible prediction?
