I have seen hundreds of I/T organizations, and the single-most determiner of success is leadership. You can't be a leader unless you have followers, you won't have followers unless you have a vision, and you won't materialize your vision if you don't have a plan.
I see so many I/T managers that are not leaders. It is not surprising that I/T alignment with the business is splashed all over any I/T management newsletter on the 'stand' for the past two years. This alignment requires leadership, not management.
