Hey you, get off of my cloud

Cloud computing has gone officially mainstream, with this New York Timesarticle.
And as one who’s always scratched his head over the meaning of the term, I found
the definition that the article supplied (“in which vast stores of information and processing resources
can be tapped from afar, over the Internet, using a personal computer, cell
phone or other device”) quite helpful.
The thing is, given the concern among corporate users over
data security and the like that the writer cites, I can’t help but wonder if
IBM’s solution, to tailor the cloud for individual companies, doesn’t undermine
the benefits. After all, is a “bespoke” cloud, to borrow the Times’ term, still
a cloud?
In the end, I suppose it all comes down to pricing.
