HP announced plans to integrate EDS which would lead to streamlined costs, invest in growth and drive shareholder value.

The restructuring program will take hold over three years and lead to a streamlining process leading to a reduction in 7.5 percent reduction of the combined workforce. The company will provide employees with severance packages, counseling and job placement services as appropriate.

While the final cost savings for HP is estimated at $1.7 billion, I surmise the impact on employees is far greater and specifically those who have been with EDS for most of their careers.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on M&A's and the impact it has on employee Morale. Have you been through a major event such as the HP-EDS merge and if so what was your experience?

My office is less than 2 miles from EDS HQ in Plano, Texas. The mood among many of the HQ staff in my area is both "Tense" and "Uneasy". HP is making rapid headway in various aspects of the merger. However, they have not detailed who be retaining positions and who will go. This takes time to analyze.
