In an effort to spur the use of their 802.11n products Cisco is not offing some sweat special offers in order to help the transition to the higher speed wireless alternative. The special offer allows the purchaser to buy the Aironet 1140 access points for a new list price of $995 when purchased in a bundle of five or ten access points. The offer also includes an up to 15% savings when bundling the Aironet 1140 with the 5500 series wireless LAN controller (WLC). The Aironet 1140 can also be used with the Cisco 30-Day test drive program and is able to be used with Cisco’s trade-in program which allows an up to 10% trade-in discount.

The Aironet 1140 is 802.11n standard compliant internal access-point and is able to be used in either stand-alone or in lightweight mode when used with a WLC solution. It also can be powered through a Power over Ethernet connection using only 12.95 watts. It also is backward compatible with all three lower wireless standards including 802.11a, b and g and supports 802.11n in both the 2.4 Ghz and 5Ghz bands.

Along with these discounts to the public, Cisco is also offering the Aironet 1140, 5500 series wireless LAN controllers, Catalyst 2975, 3560G, 3750G and 4500 E-Series Switches at an even better price to qualifying educational institutions.

Here are the details on the 30-day test drive option: when using this program the end-users and authorized resellers are able to borrow a Wireless LAN evaluation kit for 30 days at no cost and install it to properly evaluate the abilities of the devices. For additional information on this program check out the site http://www.rmkrpartner.com/cisco/wirelesseval/.

The trade-in program allows the purchaser to trade in Aironet 1000, 1120, 1130, 1200, 1230 and 1240 devices in exchange for a credit on the 1140’s.
