Google and Verizon on Monday introduced a joint proposal for how the Internet should be regulated going forward. The companies claim to have struck a balance between protecting openness and encouraging broadband development, but critics don't agree that the plan offers the best of both worlds. Exceptions to the new rules, they argue, will give certain companies an unfair advantage, and it could further the development of premium, paid Internet platforms.
