Still looking for a new IT job and willing to consider a relocation to another city? Well then best to pick a city from the following list. Sometimes as professionals we will need to go where the jobs are located. To help guide you in this process Modis, the provider of information technology staffing resources for domestic companies, has identified a list of the top seven cities across the country to find IT jobs today.

Houston ranks as the best place to land an IT position in the US. Modis has based the list of top cities on internal data and criteria such as the number of job openings over the past quarter, growing industries in the area and the intensity of the war for talent in these regions.

Houston is ranked #1 top spot due to its position as a key hub for numerous global organizations. Many of the companies are now rebounding from the recession and benefiting from increased IT budgets. Demand is high for a variety of IT jobs especially from systems administrators,  business analysts, and mobile application developers.

Here is the complete list:

1. Houston, Texas

There are many large companies in the technology and health care sectors that have chosen it as an operations center due to its low cost of living and access to a strong IT labor force.

2. Washington D.C

Spend, Spend, Spend!! The U.S. government is driving most of the employment demand in the nation's capital. It has historically provided a variety of economic incentives for companies to start up operations there.

3. Columbus, Ohio

The need Web developers is growing as Columbus' economy recovers and businesses strive to maintain a competitive edge.

4. Detroit, Michigan

The U.S. automobile industry is on the rebound ( Ford and GM are profitable again ) and the need to update and invest in new systems  has led to a shortage of qualified IT pros in the city.

5. Philadelphia, Pa

Philly has a growing entrepreneurial community. This results in a strong IT job market as these businesses companies grow.

6. Edison, NJ

There are many financial services firms, insurance companies,  and health care organizations  are creating high demand IT jobs, especially project managers.

7. Boston, Ma

This city has always been a technology hub because they incubate job from  some of the best colleges in the US.
