CIOs on the Move

 

CIOs come and go from fortune 2000 companies, here is a select summary of companies, locations, and their recent CIO post changes from around the US.

 

1. HP appoints a CIO

HP has appointed former Boeing Company executive John Hinshaw as CIO. In the newly created role of EVP of Global Technology and Business Processes, Hinshaw will oversee IT and shared and administrative services, including indirect and services procurement. Hinshaw also will be in charge of optimising business processes across the company.

 

2. State of New Jersey Names New CIO

E. Steven Emanuel, a highly experienced public sectorinformation technology manager, has been named Chief Information Officer(CIO) for the State of New Jersey. As CIO, Emanuel will coordinate NewJersey’s statewide information technology strategies and policies. He will also oversee the State’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) and assume all the responsibilities of New Jersey’s Chief Technology Officer.

 

3. Washington State Gets New CIO

IIT Mumbai alumni and Microsoft veteran Bharat Shyam has been appointed the new chief information officer (CIO) of Washington State. With nearly 20 years of experience at Microsoft, he brings a deep understanding of software and technology. And his level of enthusiasm for the position is unmatched. I welcome him to this role, and know the citizens of Washington State will benefit from his service,” Washington Governor Chris Gregoire said.

 

4. New CIO of Sacramento County, California named.

Sacramento County, Calif., didn’t have to go far to find its new technology boss. Rami Zakaria, the chief of e-Government and Business Services for the county’s Department of Technology, was named CIO of Sacramento County on Nov. 15.

 

5. The FederalOffice of Personnel Management to Hire a CTO

The OPM will bring on a detailee this month in the role of a new chief technology officer to address issues with USAJobs.gov and the agency's outdated retirement system.

 

6. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Names CIO

The new agency has named Chris Willey its Chief Information Officer and also announced the hiring of seven other executives for senior leadership positions.

 

7. Comcast's CIO to Exit in 2011

Chief Information Officer Andrew Baer is set to leave the company by the end of the year. His full title was CIO and head of Comcast Enterprise Technology (CET).
