How Many People Spend Time On Social Networks?
Written by John McCormick

Harvard Business Publishing just published the following statistic on social networking:

“25% of Internet users in the U.S. spend time on social networking sites, according to the Conference Board's Consumer Internet Barometer, and about half of them visit these sites multiple times per day.”

Granted, many businesses are still trying to figure out how to tap into these networks, but it undeniable that social networks are becoming part of our everyday lives.

I'm surprised—it seems like it should be higher. But then again, I'm a bit biased as an avid FaceBook user.

I'd be interested in what the growth trends look like. I would think the trends to be pretty steep and increasing with each passing month. At a recent Forrester Conference I believe they placed at 34% growth on marketing spend to social media through 2014. Still, I'd be curious to see if the trend for use is even larger than the spend for targeted media spends.
