Future Enterprise - Adaptive Business Intelligence
Written by David Hunter Tow
The concept of adaptability is rapidly gaining in popularity in business. Adaptability has already been introduced into everything from automatic car transmissions to sentient search engines to running shoes capable of adapting to the preferences of each unique user over time, to business management- (Refer previous Future Enterprise- Adaptable Enterprise blog.) Adaptive business intelligence is a new discipline which combines three components- prediction, adaptation and optimisation. It can be defined as the discipline of using prediction and optimisation techniques to create self-learning decision systems. Managers work in a dynamic and ever-changing economic and social environment and therefore require constant decision support in two linked timeframes- what is the best decision to make now and how will this change in the future. The general goal of most current business intelligence systems is to access data from a variety of sources, to transform it into information and knowledge via sophisticated analytic and statistical tools and provide a graphical interface to present the results in a user friendly way. However this doesn’t guarantee the right or best decision outcomes. Today most business managers realise that a gap still exists between having the right information and making the right decision. Good decision-making also involves constantly improving future recommendations- adapting to changes in the marketplace and improving the quality of decision outcomes over time. This involves a shift towards predictive performance management- moving beyond simple metrics to a form of artificial intelligence based software analysis and learning such as evolutionary algorithms. (Refer previous Future Enterprise- Intelligent Enterprise blog) Future Trends The future of business intelligence therefore lies in the development of systems that can autonomously and continuously improve decision-making within a changing business environment, rather than tools that just produce more detailed reports based on current static standards of quality and performance. It must incorporate techniques that build autonomous learning, with feedback loops that generate prediction and optimisation scenarios to recommend high-quality decision outcomes; but also with an in-built capacity to continuously improve future recommendations. The importance of such an evolutionary paradigm wil be esential in an increasingly competitive and complex business environment. It is regressive to continue to rely on software support systems that repeatedly produce sub-optimal demand forecasts, workflows or planning schedules. The future of business intelligence lies in systems that can guide and deliver increasingly smart decisions in a volatile and uncertain environment.

Yes, Adaptive Business Intelligence. Key words. The article has beyond a doubt touched part of the issue and although I do not know the writer, I can read the frustration for to see any part of that one must have tried to change something and meet resistance. I have walked this road, and still am on it, and have created in all associations a group linked to my company.

The problem is bigger than the article or what I can write here, and I do not want to repeat what I have already written about on my blogs. I have stated 8 months ago that the issue of corporations being out of touch, arrogant and living in their box's and having what I called the Matrix Virus has lead to them not being able to know or even reach the markets, but for them to say that you may have a point means globally accepting they have a fault to fix, and it is easier and cheaper for them to ignore you even if you are a user of their products (which I will use in my projects which I will soon launch).
Without what I call Global Virtual Portal Fusion, a product that actually works from software to hardware, from computer to mobile phone to IPTV to any means has continuity and actually works, and when it does not, respect the market (which they do not like to do) and fix, help solve the issue. For that belief, and as a producer and a member of the market, I have had to fight those I need for my work and have been deemed a trouble maker ... until late when now they have started to see that what I was saying, the need for any manufacturer the necessity to understand and accept evolution and adapt accordingly. I am not the enemy, reality is. For in turning me into their enemy lead those who watched the fights, and saw the end results, came to me to consult their businesses. Their combined turn-over is about $8 billion. They came to me because the other only accept names, and because at the end of the day all the products vary only on how you creatively use and fuse it with a twist and adept vision in existing and new markets.

I have discerned a philosophical passion to business market creativity is 'The difference between what things are, and what they out to be,' Hazlitt. The future lies in the past, thus as vanguard, I illuminate the way to global virtual portal fusion to market/corporation fusion and thus due to natures intrinsic desideratum to unremittingly evolve ... new markets are limitless.
Life is about creation of oneself and through that the markets. So as Thoreau wrote" Go confidently in the directions of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined," and if it does not exist, create it ...
